Orbit Blaster is a compact vertical shooter where the trigger is not your problem. Your interceptor fires on its own, several shots a second, straight up the screen. What you control is where you stand, and in this game that decides everything: your score, your combo and whether the run continues.
- Score is kills × 40 × your best combo of the run, so one long chain multiplies everything.
- A kill within 1.6 seconds of the previous kill raises the combo; a longer gap resets it to one.
- Armored drones take two hits, and weaving drones sway from side to side.
- The run ends if a drone touches your ship or reaches the bottom of the screen.
Move the interceptor left and right with the mouse or your finger; it follows your pointer's horizontal position. On a keyboard, hold Left and Right or A and D. Shots fire automatically, so there is no fire button to press. Use the Pause button, or press P or Escape, if you need a break; the game also pauses when you switch tabs, and M mutes the sound.
Your first run
- Step 1: Press Play
Or press Space or Enter on the start screen.
- Step 2: Stand under the lowest drone
Shots climb straight up from your ship, so park directly beneath your target.
- Step 3: Sweep the formation
Slide one lane at a time to the next drone while the combo window is still open.
- Step 4: Meet the next wave early
Drift toward the next formation before it gets low on the screen.
score = kills × 40 × maxCombo- Each kill
- 40 points, multiplied
- Multiplier
- Your best combo reached during the run
- Combo window
- 1.6 seconds between kills
- 20 kills, best combo 5
- 4,000 points
- 20 kills, best combo 10
- 8,000 points
The multiplier is your best combo of the whole run, not the combo you happen to have at the end. That is a generous rule: one excellent chain early in the run keeps paying for every kill afterwards. It also means total kills and a long chain both matter, because they multiply each other.
| Drone | When it appears | How to handle it |
|---|---|---|
| Scout | From the first wave | One hit. Line up under it and let the shots climb. |
| Weaver | From the second wave | One hit, but it sways side to side. Aim at the middle of its swing. |
| Armored | From the fourth wave | Two hits. Stay under it a moment longer before moving on. |
Waves arrive in short formations of up to three drones in neighboring lanes, and each new formation shifts to a different part of the screen. Waves come faster and drones descend faster as the run goes on, until both reach their limits. You can pick Easy, Normal or Hard on the start screen, which changes how quickly drones descend and how often waves arrive; the scoring formula does not change. Ranked runs such as daily challenges are played on Normal.
Because a formation's drones sit in adjacent lanes, you can often take them in a single sweep: start under the drone that is lowest, kill it, slide one lane over, kill the next. Each kill lands inside the combo window, so a clean sweep builds your chain naturally.
This is the rule that ends most runs. If any drone reaches the bottom edge of the screen, the run is over, exactly as if it had hit your ship. Hiding at the edge while a wave passes does not work. You have to deal with every drone, which is why the game rewards active positioning.
The combo resets if 1.6 seconds pass without a kill. When a formation is nearly cleared, look at where the next one is forming and drift toward it, so the first kill of the new wave lands while the window is still open.
- Treating armored drones like scouts and sliding away after one hit.
- Chasing weavers to the edge of their swing instead of waiting under the middle.
- Letting a stray drone slip past at the side while focusing on the center.
- Taking big risks late in a run when the best combo is already banked.
High scores come from runs that are both long and chained. Practice sweeping formations until long chains become routine, then focus on survival. Your best score appears on the leaderboards, and the three Orbit Blaster achievements step up from finishing a run to a skilled score to a mastery score. If you enjoy reading falling patterns, Cosmic Dodge trains the same lane awareness without the shooting, and Pixel Pong rewards the same calm positioning.
Do I need to press anything to shoot?
No. Your interceptor fires automatically. You only move.
Is my combo multiplier the final combo or the best one?
The best combo you reached at any point in the run multiplies all your kills.
What ends a run?
A drone touching your ship, or any drone reaching the bottom of the screen.
How long do I have between kills to keep the combo?
1.6 seconds. Kill again within that window and the combo rises by one.
Verdict
Orbit Blaster looks like a reflex shooter, but it is really a positioning puzzle with a multiplier. Sweep formations, protect your best chain, and never let a drone reach the floor.
